While most people either believe the Gods are dead or simply don't care, a minority passionately reject the Church's message. They have watched people suffer, starve, and die without healing magic for centuries. They have seen faith waver in the reformists. They believe the Gods aren't heroes, but have abandoned the world.

They point to inconsistencies in historical records, missing documents that are far too convenient, and the controlling nature of the Wizard government to argue the truth is being withheld.

Most people dismiss them as conspiracy theorists or meaningless noise. A small number of Abandoned protest outside temples, trying to convince anyone who will listen. They remain generally peaceful, and don't interrupt the humanitarian efforts of the Church. But there are rumors... that certain fires, disappearances, and political incidents are connected in some way to devout Abandoned leaders.

The truly devout speak of an inner circle who carry secret knowledge of what truly happened, passed down from generation to generation. There are rumblings that they have a drive beyond simply being heard. What that drive is, no one outside the inner circle seems to know, and any unbelievers who go looking tend to disappear.
